Need coverage or do you want to waive your school coverage?

If you are a student looking for coverage, Aetna Student Health℠ has a plan for you. Aetna Student Health gives you access to care by working closely with your school and with a network of doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and specialists throughout the country.

Graduate, Professional and all International Notre Dame students

  • You are required to have health insurance coverage that meets University criteria (view criteria below).
  • Therefore, you are automatically enrolled in, and charged for, the University-sponsored health insurance plan.
  • HOWEVER, if you have health insurance that meets University criteria (view criteria below), you may waive out of the University-sponsored health insurance plan.
    • You must use the enrollment/waiver application process.
    • Complete this process between July 25 - September 15.
    • If you fail to complete this process by the deadline, or if your insurance plan doesn’t meet University criteria (view criteria below), you will remain enrolled in--and charged for--the University-sponsored health insurance plan.

Criteria to waive out of University health insurance requirement

- My current plan has a Deductible of
a. $500 or less for individual plans, or
b. Any amount for non-individual plans (i.e., parents’ insurance plans that cover the student, or student’s employer insurance plan, or student’s spouse’s employer insurance plan).

- My current plan has coverage in the South Bend area.

- My current plan has prescription coverage.

- My current plan coverage for entire 2018 -2019 academic year.

- My current plan is U S Based plan

Please note: Coverage for emergency-only care is not sufficient.
