Aetna Student Health gives you access to care by working closely with your school and with a network of doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and specialists throughout the country.
International Students: Western Michigan University requires International Students to have health insurance, both to protect against unexpected high medical costs and provide access to quality care. This site contains information about
the requirements and features of the Western Michigan University plan.
Domestic Students: All Domestic Students are eligible to enroll in the Western Michigan University Student Health Insurance Plan. All enrolled Students may also enroll their dependents.
Graduate Appointees and Teaching Assistants: The Graduate College is pleased to announce the continuation of a subsidized health insurance benefit for graduate appointees beginning August 24, 2013. If you are not currently covered by health
insurance, this is a major opportunity. One expensive injury or illness could jeopardize your graduate education and your financial security. To enroll for this insurance benefit follow the instructions on the next page.
For you to be eligible to enroll, your department must have submitted your appointment form through the Office of Human Resources. You will need to enter your WIN and date of birth for the system to verify your Eligibility
and allow you to proceed to the enrollment form. If the enrollment system advises you that verification failed, first contact your hiring department to determine when your appointment form was submitted to Human Resources. If it was submitted more than
1 week ago, then you may contact the Graduate College for assistance at (269) 387-8259
Graduating or Departing Plan Participants: Students whose coverage under the Western Michigan University Student Health Insurance Plan is terminating due to graduation or otherwise leaving school are eligible to continue their coverage by
enrolling in the WMU-sponsored Continuation Plan.
The Continuation Plan is only available to Aetna Student Health insured students who are graduating or otherwise leaving school.
Terminating students and eligible dependents may enroll in the Continuation Plan provided they were enrolled in Western Michigan University Student Health Insurance Plan for the previous academic term. Coverage may be purchased for a one (1)
month to a six (6) month Period.
