All students must take action on their health coverage. You can enroll in the student health insurance plan. Or, you can waive it with proof of other qualifying coverage.
Be sure to make your selection before the deadline to avoid automatic enrollment and charges.

Enroll in student health coverage
Need health insurance for the school year? The student health plan offers nationwide coverage designed for your needs.
To enroll, you’ll need your school-issued student ID number.
Waive your student health coverage
Already have health insurance? If you’re covered under another qualifying plan—like one from a parent, spouse, or employer—you can waive the student health plan. To waive coverage, you’ll need your school-issued student ID number.

The high cost of health care in the United States presents a potentially serious financial risk to students. Therefore, NYU requires that all students registered in degree-granting programs have health insurance. Most students are enrolled in and charged automatically for the NYU-sponsored student health insurance plan as part of the course registration process.
All NYU students taking classes in degree-granting programs have access to services at the Student Health Center (SHC) whether or not they're enrolled in the NYU-sponsored student health insurance plans, which are administered by Aetna Student HealthSM.
NYU-sponsored student health insurance
Most students are automatically enrolled in and charged for the NYU-sponsored student health insurance plan as part of the course registration process.
Students must complete the online enrollment/waiver process each academic year (beginning in the fall) to:
- Ensure that they are enrolled in the plan of their choice
- Supplement their current insurance with an NYU-sponsored plan
OR
- Waive the NYU-sponsored plan
Dental plan
Affordable dental care for NYU students and their families
Maintain a healthy smile with convenient, quality dental care provided by the NYU College of Dentistry. This dental plan helps students and their families access essential preventive and restorative services at significantly reduced costs throughout the academic year. Dental coverage is offered separately from your Aetna Student Health medical plan and is not administered by Aetna Student Health.
