Not sure if you need to enroll or waive? Some students are automatically enrolled and must waive if they have other coverage. Others can choose to enroll during open enrollment. Check your student type before taking action.

Who needs to enroll?

 

Required to enroll

Medical, Podiatric, Dental, College of Public Health, and Pharmacy students, as well as international students with F1 or J1 visa status, are automatically enrolled in the Temple-sponsored student health insurance plan. If you select which plan you want or waive coverage, you will be enrolled in and charged for the PPO deductible option.

 

Optional enrollment

Undergraduate, graduate, law students and TUGSA graduate/teaching assistants are not requires to have health coverage, but may choose to enroll during the open enrollment period, which ends September 30, 2025.

 

Plan options

There are three plan options to choose from: PPO deductible option, PPO high option, and POS option. All plans include dental and vision coverage. These rates do not reflect any subsidies that are offered by Temple University.

Waive your student health coverage

Already have health insurance? If you’re covered under another qualifying plan—like a parent’s, spouse’s, or employer’s—you can waive the student health plan.

To waive coverage, you’ll need your school-issued student ID number.

Required to waive

Medical, Podiatric, Dental, College of Public Health, Pharmacy students, and international students must waive coverage if they have comparable insurance. If you do not waive by the deadline, you will be automatically enrolled and charged for the PPO Deductible Option.

 

Optional waiver

Undergraduate, graduate, law students, and TUGSA graduate/teaching assistants do not need to waive coverage unless they have enrolled and wish to opt out due to a qualifying life event.
